The Gaunt Brothers Racing 40 Years of TRD Celebration Comes Full Circle
No. 96 Toyota Camry Will Sport “40thAnniversary” TRD Paint Scheme at Talladega
Talladega, AL (October 9th, 2019) – Parker Kligerman will once again pilot the No. 96 TRD 40th Anniversary Toyota Camry at the 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend, the same track that Gaunt Brothers Racing first unveiled the TRD 40th paint scheme.
“It’s felt like a season long celebration,” said team owner Marty Gaunt. “And when you look at everything TRD has accomplished in motorsports this past 40 years, I’m not sure a full year of celebrating would even do it justice.”
A practice mishap forced Kligerman to start in 40th position his last time on track at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Roval course, but he was able to work his way up and cross the finish line with a respectable 26th place finish. He hopes to carry that momentum into this weekend.
“Talladega is one of the tracks we circle at the very start of the season,” said Kligerman. “The way these superspeedway races go, it’s really anyone’s race to win. A lot of the advantages some of the really well funded teams have go right out the window. It mostly comes down to patience, not making any mistakes, and trying your best to avoid other’s mistakes.”
“A little luck also never hurts,” added Kligerman with a smile.
“This is one of those races where you know you have a real shot at a great finish,” said Crew Chief Mark Hillman. “We always bring 100% effort with us no matter where we race, but there’s just something about these tracks, Talladega, Daytona, the real drafting tracks where it feels like we’re operating at 105%. We know we can compete with anybody here.”
The 1000Bulbs.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway will be televised at 2 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Sunday, October 13th on NBC.
