With driver Parker Kligerman behind the wheel, Gaunt Brothers Racing turned in an admirable, come-from-behind performance last weekend at Daytona International Speedway.

One of six cars vying for four open spots on the Daytona 500 starting grid, Kligerman drove the No. 96 Toyota Camry to a 12th-place finish in his Thursday night qualifying race to lock GBR into its third consecutive “Great American Race.” During the 500, Kligerman was caught in an accident after the event’s halfway mark, but sustained little damage. Not only did he and GBR mount a comeback, they also dodged a litany of late-race accidents and pocketed a 15th-place result.

“This GBR team had a big couple of weeks in Daytona,” said Kligerman. “We proved that in a really intense situation, we could perform at a high level just to get into the Daytona 500.

“In the 500, we battled through a bad break in getting spun out, but we never gave up. We salvaged a good finish and brought home a clean racecar in what turned out to be a crazy race.”

Indeed, Kligerman expertly avoided significant damage across four accidents in the final one-tenth of the race, an event extended by 17.5 miles for a green-flag conclusion.

Now, both GBR and Kligerman set their sights on Atlanta Motor Speedway, where the NASCAR Cup Series debuts a new rules package meant to increase parity and prompt passing.

Kligerman, for one, is riding high following a weekend of accomplishment.

“Going into Atlanta, we have a high level of confidence and are excited to experience the new rules package and new era of Cup racing together,” said Kligerman.
